Create! art school is where I help people relax, unwind, unleash their creativity and make beautiful art.
Hello I'm Helen and I own and run Create! art school. I'm passionate about art and helping others discover their inner artist. My nurturing and supportive classes will allow you to immerse yourself in drawing, painting, printing or craft. Online or in-studio...my classes will fit into your life.
I firmly believe that anyone can be creative, you just need to give yourself the time, space and a little help to get there. As a busy mum of 2, a business owner and former Head of Art in a Secondary School, I understand the pressure life puts on us.
I also know how easy it is not to reward ourselves with time to do things we love. That's where I come in.....Create! gives you that chance to escape real life for a bit, and immerse yourself into a completely mindful activity.
Since setting up the business in 2017, I have helped hundreds of people, adults and children, unleash their creativity.

"I have never used charcoal or pastel chalks as a medium before as I am a bit of a neat freak. I was amazed at how engrossed I became with the lessons as Helen talked me through, step by step, and I was able to lose myself in the act of 'smudging' the chalks which was very therapeutic. Not as traumatic or messy as I first thought. At the end of the lessons (which flew by) I was astounded by the result of the pictures I had created. I almost felt as though I was cheating art in some way by creating something so beautiful, with such ease, and in such a short space of time. I am now excited to try the lessons again with a bit more experience.
The most important lesson I took with me from Helen is that there is no wrong or right way to do the art, you feel your way through. Helen also didn't use any artist jargon which was a massive bonus! Thank you Helen, I look forward to doing more lessons with you in the future."

"This is a really interesting course, it definitely got me out of my comfort zone (in a good way), using materials and techniques I wasn't previously familiar with.
Helen invites her students to play with shape, colour and texture, by creating 3 landscapes with chalk pastels.
There is no right or wrong in these lessons and your imagination is allowed to roam freely as you create. I feel much more confident to use pastels and paint landscapes, having completed this course and having been given some theory of further techniques to employ when creating landscapes. Thank you, Helen!"

"This course was fabulous!
Helen's method of teaching is so friendly, calm and encouraging. Wherever you are in your artist journey you will always discover something new.
Each mini project is thoughtfully designed to learn specific skills using chalk pastels and charcoal. After completing the course I now have more confidence to use my new skills and the materials to develop ideas in my own artwork."
